MARCH ON’s Fight Back PAC Unveils Campaign Targeting the NRA’s Top Accomplices in Congress, Paul Ryan and the Blood Money Dozen

In Response to the Parkland Shooting and Strong Support from the MARCH ON Community, Fight Back PAC is Throwing its Fundraising Weight Into Twelve Winnable Races

Washington, DC MARCH ON’s Fight Back PAC is heeding the call of the people — including the heroic Parkland students who are demanding change in light of the recent tragedy claiming 17 lives —  by launching a fundraising initiative targeting Republican incumbents who do the NRA’s bidding at the expense of our safety. With strong support from MARCH ON affiliates across the country and our army of marchroots supporters, Fight Back PAC is preparing to build a warchest dedicated specifically to taking on Paul Ryan and the Blood Money Dozen — politicians who take the NRA’s blood money and, in return, repeatedly stand in the way of life-saving gun reforms.

Early results of the Operation Marching Orders poll, MARCH ON’s political platform crowdsourcing initiative, show that 89% of participants will only vote for a candidate who supports and will fight for sensible gun laws. Based on those results, Fight Back PAC has selected twelve politicians in winnable battleground districts that MARCH ON and its affiliates are determined to help defeat in 2018. As an organization that takes its orders from its supporters, MARCH ON’s Fight Back PAC is well-positioned to act when our supporters demand bold, decisive action to address an overwhelming need. Electing better lawmakers so we can have better laws is our core mission. We can think of no better place to start than by defeating Paul Ryan and the Blood Money Dozen so that our nation can have sensible gun reforms.

“We will no longer sit idly by while Paul Ryan and his NRA Blood Money accomplices bury real gun reform time and again. From Sandy Hook to Charleston to Aurora to Pulse to Parkland, and every other shooting in between, the path of these politicians’ complicity is strewn with the bodies of our nation’s children and other innocent victims who have been slaughtered by gun violence. Enough. It is long past time to call out the Members of Congress who accept blood money from the NRA and clearly announce that we’re coming for them. They are unfit to serve in Congress and we will see to it that they are defeated,” said Fight Back PAC Executive Director Andi Pringle. “Like all of America, we have been inspired by the students of Parkland who are standing up and making it clear that they will no longer live in fear because a politician values his or her seat in Congress more than the lives of innocents. These students give us all hope that we might at long last be on the verge of change. We intend to fight side-by-side with these noble young activists until the influence of the NRA on our politics has been banished and our children no longer have to live in fear. #NeverAgain.

The campaign will run from now until Election Day 2018 and run in tandem with our campaigns to support endorsed candidates. The Fight Back PAC is funded by small money donations from the marchroots — the people across the country who were moved to political action by the women’s marches of January 2017 — and was actively involved in Alabama and Virginia elections last fall.

Fight Back PAC is the Super PAC of MARCH ON, a new political organization comprised of women-led political activist groups that grew out of the women’s marches of January 21, 2017. They have come together as a united force to take concrete, coordinated actions at the federal, state, and local levels to impact elections and take our country in a better direction. March On is not affiliated with Women’s March, Inc.
